The Story Behind Ghost Seat
A simple problem
Hard stools and minimalist chairs often look good but become uncomfortable after longer sitting. The usual solution is a cushion, but most cushions change the appearance of the chair completely.
Ghost Seat started from that contradiction: can a cushion improve comfort without becoming the visual center of the chair?
The shape matters
The current Ghost Seat geometry is based on a 300 mm diameter, a 20 mm center and a 10 mm edge. The transition is designed to be smooth, without a hard step, ring or disk-like shape.
That smooth profile is important because the cushion should feel intentional, not like a random pad placed on a chair.
Why silicone
Transparent silicone allows the cushion to visually disappear while still providing softness and shape stability. It can also be wiped clean, making it more suitable for daily use than many fabric alternatives.
The real challenge is not just transparency. The material also needs the right feel, grip, durability and resistance to yellowing.
From concept to sample
The project is now moving through development and sample evaluation. The goal is to test real physical performance before making any production decisions.
